All S-Mic 2 features

Low Off-Axis Coloration

With remarkably low off-axis coloration, the S-Mic 2 is designed to pick up rich, full sounds on set, even in the hands of a novice boom operator.

All-Metal Build

The S-Mic 2’s body is 100% brass making it both an incredibly strong and durable piece of equipment AND resistant to RF interference.

Weather-Resistant

The internal circuitry is sprayed and coated with a clear epoxy that allows the microphone to perform without issue in even the most humid environments. This coating also gives the mic a water-resistance level that allows it to work in the rain without being damaged.

Ultra-Low Self Noise

The S-Mic 2 has an ultra-low noise floor at 12dB (A-weighted), 24dB (CCIR 268-3). Combined with its anti-RF interference build, the S-Mic 2 is able to be boosted in post with a lot less background noise than other microphones on the market.

Support

Why is the front of the S-Mic 2 cut at a diagonal and not flat like other microphones?

It makes the microphone fast like a race car. Honestly it is cut that way just for looks. You have to cut the metal one way or another and we chose a pointy diagonal design.

Where can I find the serial number on my S-Mic 2?

On the bottom of the microphone near the XLR output you will find your serial number.

Is the Deity S-Mic 2 the same as the Aputure Deity Shotgun?

No. Technically the Aputure Deity Shotgun should be called the S-Mic 1 but when it came out no one knew what a S-Mic was or that the model would even be the “first” version. The S-Mic 2 uses the same housing as the Aputure Deity shotgun but the circuit board and the microphone capsule have both been upgraded to sound much better.
